You can scroll through thumbnails for a quick visual view of the images on the CD or search for images by keyword, description, subject, or marks. Once found, image files can be previewed. ******************* * Using the Album * ******************* • OPENING THE BROWSER IN WINDOWS 3.1x 1) Open File Manager 2) Select the CD-ROM drive. Example (D:) drive 3) Double click on the BROWSER directory 4) Double click on the BROWSER2 directory 5) Double click on BROWSER.EXE 6) Click on the Album menu 7) Select Open 8) Select the CD-ROM drive from the Drives box 9) Double click on the root directory. Example D:\ 10) Double click on the ALBUM directory 11) Double click on the "Product Month Year".ABM file. Example EC0196.ABM. Note: To open the cumulative album double click on the "Product Year".ABM file. Example EC1996.ABM • OPENING THE BROWSER IN WINDOWS 95 1) Double click on My Computer from the desktop or open Windows Explorer and double click on My Computer 2) Double click on the CD-ROM drive 3) Double click on the BROWSER directory 4) Double click on the BROWSER2 directory 5) Double click on the BROWSER application 6) Click on the Album menu 8) Select Open 9) Select the CD-ROM drive from the Drives box 10) Double click on the root directory. Example EC1996.ABM • SEARCHING FOR IMAGES When a search is performed, only the thumbnails in the current view are searched. If you want to search the entire album consecutively, select Search Entire Album from the Thumbnail menu or typing Ctrl+W. To perform a quick keyword search, choose Keyword from the left pull-down menu at the top of the screen; then choose a keyword from the right pull-down menu. Then single click on the partial pie chart that is located to the right of the right pull-down menu. To perform a search with more complex search criteria (for example, to combine two keywords using Boolean operators such as "and" or "or"), use the Search dialog box, accessed by choosing Search from the Thumbnails menu or typing Ctrl+S. In the Search dialog box, choose your search criteria category from the pull-down menu and type your search words in the box to the right. To add more criteria separated by "and," "or" or "not," click the Add button. When finished, click OK to begin the search. You can save a search for future use by typing a name in the Query text area inside the Search dialog box, then press Enter. To access a previously saved query, choose it from the pull-down Query menu. To delete a query, highlight it and click the Remove button. • PREVIEWING IMAGES Double click on a thumbnail to see a large version of it. *********************************** * Learning More About the Browser * *********************************** To learn more about using the Browser, use the information under the Help menu.
